Eschscholzia, better known as California poppy, is a bright-flowering plant native to the United States and Mexico. A member of the Papaveraceae family, it is distinguished by its bright yellow-orange flowers.
Its low water requirements make it a popular choice for drought-resistant landscaping. Beyond its aesthetic appeal, the California poppy is used primarily as a nutraceutical. Curiously, it is also a symbol of the “gold rush” in California because of its golden colour.
